Â
How it Happened:
- The Peacocks struck early in Friday's afternoon affair, with Kane leading off the inning with a double to center field.
- Two batters later, McNulty would send a shot into shallow center field to bring Kane home after the junior advanced to third following a groundout from Sciglimpaglia.Â
- Saint Peter's was able to maintain its lead over the next two innings until the Blue Hens got their bats going in the bottom of the third to take a 5-1 lead over the Peacocks.Â
- Delaware tacked on two more runs in the following inning off a two-run home run, upping the lead to 7-1.
- As had been a theme through the team's seven games this season, Saint Peter's did not give up, as sophomore Mido recorded her first RBI of the season in the top of the sixth, sending the ball down the right field line to send Georgia Verrastro home from second base. That, however, was the closest the Peacocks would get before the last out was recorded.
Inside the Numbers:
- The Peacocks played cleanly Friday afternoon, as they finished without any errors on the day, marking the first game this season in which the "E" column was empty.
- Sciglimpaglia's outing against the Blue Hens was her most productive appearance at the plate thus far in the season, as the sophomore went 2-for-3 in the batter's box.Â
- Freshman pitcher Sophie Wilson did not surrender a single run in her appearance today, and allowed just three hits through two innings of play.
- Kane's leadoff double was the junior's third of the year through seven games played, which leads the team.
Coach's Quote - Chris Stelma:
- "We had a good day at the park today. We played a very competitive brand of ball against a good team."
- "We never backed down and had some great defensive plays and timely hits to keep us in the ballgame."
