EDISON, NJ – Women's basketball redshirt senior
Taiah Thornton has been named the Hercules Tires Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Women's Basketball Player of the Week, as announced by the league office today.
Thornton was a force in the Peacocks' weekend series at Rider, averaging 23.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and five assists per game against the Broncs. The redshirt-senior had a career showing in Saint Peter's 59-50 victory on Sunday, tying her career-high of 30 points while contributing five rebounds and four assists on the day. The effort led the Peacocks to their first win at Rider since the program's 65-54 victory at Rider on Jan. 15, 2012. Additionally, Thornton scored her 1,000th career point during Saturday's contest, dropping 17 points in the process while shooting 53.8 percent from the field.
Thornton and the Peacocks will head north on I-95 this weekend for their next weekend series at Fairfield from Jan. 22-23. Start times for both games are to be determined and will be announced as they become available.
