JERSEY CITY, NJ – If it wasn't already clear that Saint Peter's university's men's basketball junior forward
KC Ndefo was an elite defender, his current achievement has solidified it. Ndefo, the reigning MAAC Defensive Player of the Year, currently leads the nation in blocked shots per game (3.6 bpg) in addition to ranking second in total blocks (40) after entering the week ranked first in the latter category.
The Elmont, New York, native currently sits at 163 career blocks, only trailing Ryan Bacon '11 (209) and Todd Sowell '07 (198) on the Saint Peter's all-time list; in just three seasons, he has already put together the program's second (67 in 2019-20), seventh (56 in 2018-19), and 18th (this season) best individual season outputs in total rejections. He is on pace to break the single-season school marks in total blocked shots and blocked shots per game this season, while also being on pace to surpass 200 career blocked shots and become the program's all-time leader in career blocks as a junior.
Ndefo and the rest of the men's basketball program are scheduled to return to the hardwood next weekend with a series at Iona on Jan. 15 and 16 following the postponement of this week's series against Fairfield.
