Polishchuk, Cillie Earn Victories in Swimming & Diving’s First 2021 Meet

BROOKLYN, N.Y. -- Saint Peter's swimming and diving kicked off its season with both its women's and men's teams competing at LIU. It was the Peacocks' first meet since the MAAC Championships in February 2020.

Two Peacocks had first place finishes, with fifth-year captain Oleksiy Polishchuk earning victories in the 200-yard breaststroke and 200-yard individual medley (IM), and junior Luke Cillie earning a win in the 100-yard freestyle. The duo also played a role in a third-place 200-yard medley relay finish.

Top Performances

• Oleksiy Polishchuk finished first in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:09.79 and first in the 200-yard individual medley (IM) with a time of 1:57.19.. He also finished second in the 1000-yard freestyle with a time of 10:07.00.
• Luke Cillie finished first place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.09. He also finished second in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 53.96.
• The men's 400-yard freestyle relay team (Yann Le Gall, David Dolgitzer, Thomas Granet, Brendan Vieira) finished second with a time of 3:19.59.
• The men's 200-yard medley relay team (Luke Cillie, Oleksiy Polishchuk, Yann Le Gall and Brendan Vieira) finished third with a time of 1:36.73.
• Yann Le Gall finished third in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 48.57.
• Thomas Granet finished third in the 200-yard backstroke with a time of 2:02.06.
• Efrat Marom finished fourth place in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 56.06.

Both the Peacocks men's and women's teams will head back to the New York City borough on Saturday, Nov. 6 for a meet against Saint Francis Brooklyn.
