Game Recap: Women's Soccer |

Women’s Soccer Drops Match at Fairfield on Wednesday Night

FAIRFIELD, CT - The Saint Peter's University women's soccer team lost to Fairfield University by a score of 2-0 on Wednesday night. 

Game Notes:

  • Freshman goalkeeper Annabelle Adams was called into action early, making a nice save in the eighth minute to keep the score tied.
  • Freshman midfielder Lula Mansilla Medina had an attempt in the 17th minute that was taken outside the box on the volley. Her shot was saved.
  • Fairfield scored in the 25th minute to take the lead off of a long throw in.
  • The Stags struck again in the 30th minute to take a 2-0 lead.
  • Adams made saves in the 35th and 36th minutes to keep the Stags from scoring again. The score would remain at 2-0 going into halftime.
  • Senior midfielder Stephanie Radakovic recorded a shot on target in the 63rd minute that was saved.
  • Senior forward Amber Whitley tried her luck from distance in the 77th minute that was stopped.
  • The Peacocks were unable to score for the fourth straight game, as the score finished 2-0.

Inside the Numbers:

  • The Peacocks registered seven shots. Senior defender Fatou Doucoure and freshman defender Carolota Pastor Romero led the team with two each.
  • Saint Peter's put three shots on target, courtesy of Mansilla Medina, Radakovic and Whitley.
  • Adams made eight saves as she continues to lead all MAAC rookie goalkeepers.
  • Sophomore defender Leslie Pineda and senior defender Brooke Boutchie were issued yellow cards.
  • With the loss, the Peacocks can no longer earn a spot in the MAAC Tournament.

Up Next:

  • The Peacocks return home this Saturday, October 20 for a matchup with Canisius College. Kickoff is scheduled for 12 p.m.
