Men’s Soccer Looks to go Five Straight Unbeaten at Manhattan on Saturday

The Intro

• The Saint Peter's University men's soccer team continues conference play as they visit the Manhattan College Jaspers on Saturday.
• The Peacocks are coming off a hard-fought 2-0 victory over Niagara this past Wednesday.
• Senior midfielder Jamie Davis has 22 career assists, tying him for second all-time.

Series with the Jaspers

• Saturday's matchup will be the 45th meeting between the Peacocks and the Jaspers, dating all the way back to 1977.
• Saint Peter's has a 31-12-1 record all-time against Manhattan.
• The two sides last met in 2019, with the Peacocks winning 2-1 after overtime in Jersey City. Senior forward Matt Hoyt, Davis, and graduate defender Anton Moore provided assists in that game.

• The Peacocks beat the Niagara Purple Eagles on Wednesday behind two second half goals from their captains Davis and junior defender Tom Climpson.
• Davis scored the opening goal in the 65th minute to put the Peacocks on top. Sophomore midfielder Matt Ellis assisted the goal, registering a point in his fourth straight game.
• Climpson doubled the Peacocks lead with less than ten minutes to go off a corner kick that was played in by Davis.

A Look to the Postseason

• The Peacocks currently sit third in the MAAC with 13 points after their win over Niagara. They trail first place Marist and Monmouth by two points.
• The Peacocks finish the season with Manhattan, Iona, and Quinnipiac, who rank tenth, fourth, and ninth in the MAAC respectively.
• Saint Peter's has already played the two teams above them, beating Marist 2-1 and losing to Monmouth 1-0.
