JERSEY CITY, N.J. (Dec. 1, 2021) - After being unable to compete in indoor varsity athletic competition in 2020-21, the Saint Peter's University men's and women's indoor track and field teams make their return Saturday, Dec. 4, when they open the 2021-22 season with the TCNJ Winter Open.
The Peacocks will compete in six meets prior to traveling to The Armory in New York City to run in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Indoor Championships on Feb. 19-20 before closing the indoor season with the ECAC/IC4A Indoor Championships in Boston on March 4-6.
The schedule features four trips to The Armory in NYC starting with each of the first two meets of the season as the MLK Relays are also held at the historic location on Friday, Jan. 14.
One week later, the Peacocks head to Staten Island, N.Y., to compete in the Great Dane Classic hosted by the University of Albany at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday, Jan. 21.
It's back to The Armory for the NYRR Millrose Games the next Saturday, Jan. 29, before a venture to Ocean Breeze once again Feb. 3-4 for the Metropolitan Indoor Championships.
SPU will compete in the state of New Jersey for the first time on Feb. 12 when they travel to West Long Branch to compete in the Monmouth Winter Collegiate Invitational in the final tune-up before the two-day MAAC Championships one week later.
With a number of new names and faces, the Peacocks will look to compete for the conference crown after finishing fifth and sixth on the men's and women's side, respectively, in the 2019-20 championships.
