For Starters:

• The Saint Peter's University softball team returns to the diamond this weekend for its season-opening series against Manhattan from March 27-28.
• Both sets of doubleheaders are scheduled for start times of 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
• The Peacocks return to play following a successful start to the 2020 season that was cut short due to the COVID-19 global pandemic.
• The team started last season with four wins through 14 games, marking the program's best start through that amount of contests since securing five wins in the first 14 outings of the 2009-10 season.
• The victories featured a three-game winning streak, which included a series sweep at Coppin State on March 11, which was the program's best stretch since Saint Peter's defeated Canisius in the second installment of a doubleheader on April 13, 2016, followed by a series sweep over Lafayette three days later.

History with the Jaspers:

• Saturday's game will be the 79th meeting between the Peacocks and the Jaspers, as Saint Peter's enters the weekend series with a 33-45 overall record when playing their conference foes from Riverdale.
• Saint Peter's and Manhattan have only ever met in a season opener one other time in series history, when the Peacocks took a 4-2 win in Jersey City on March 29, 1982.
• The last doubleheader between the programs came on May 2, 2019 when Manhattan swept the series, winning by margins of 8-2 and 7-4.
• The Peacocks will look for their first win over the Jaspers since their 5-2 victory at Jaroschak on April 12, 2008.

Meet the Returners:

• Saint Peter's will head into this weekend led by junior captain Anja Solveig Kane and senior Alyssa Adams.
• The Peacocks also return three additional upperclassmen in juniors Marissa Morales, Katie Sciglimpaglia, and Sydney Senerchia.
• Nine Peacocks comprise Saint Peter's returning sophomore class which is headed by Brandi Feeney, who finished 2019 as the team leader in batting average (.379), home runs (3), RBI's (10), OPS (1.335) and SLG (.897). 

Fresh Faces:

• Four new players join the ranks this year for the Peacocks, consisting of three freshmen and one sophomore transfer.
• Madison Simone, Maiah Skakal, and Kaitlynn Peters make up the rookie class for Saint Peter's, adding depth to the infield and catching charts.
• Sophomore pitcher Christina Colon arrives in Jersey City for her first season in the blue and white following her freshman campaign with Bryant.
