Softball Set to Host Rider in Doubleheader on Wednesday

Peacocks play host to hOURglass rival Broncs for midweek matchup

For Starters:

The Saint Peter's University softball team returns to the Garden State this week for a doubleheader against hOURglass rival Rider on Wednesday, April 14.
The pair of games are set for 1 p.m. and 3 p.m. start times.
The Peacocks recently traveled to Siena for their first road trip of the season, competing against the Saints in a four-game series from April 10-11.
The Saints took the victory in each of the four games, but the second game of each doubleheader was decided by a single run, which included an 11-inning 2-1 decision in Game 2 on April 10.
Melissa Morales and Bailey Hartman each recorded an RBI during Saturday's games, while Katie Sciglimpaglia finished Sunday with two RBI's, bringing in one run in each game.
Junior pitcher Sydney Senerchia had another strong performance on the mound in Game 2 on April 10, pitching 10.2 innings and allowing just five hits and two runs while recording seven strikeouts.
Taylor Rondon and Kristen Brennan also had promising pitching performances on Sunday, as Rondon threw for 3.2 innings while allowing just one run in the day's first game. Brennan came in as relief in Game 2 and pitched for three innings without conceding a hit.

Series with the Broncs:

The Peacocks and Broncs will meet on the diamond for the 60th contest in the all-time series on Wednesday afternoon, with Rider holding a 34-25 advantage over Saint Peter's.
The last doubleheader between the two sides came in Lawrenceville on April 14, 2018, with the Broncs winning both games by 7-3 and 5-4 margins.
The last victory for the Peacocks came earlier in 2018 prior to the doubleheader on April 14, when Saint Peter's secured a 7-6 win over Rider at the Coppin State Eagles Classic on March 4.
The team will be looking for its first home win against its hOURglass rival since sweeping the regular season series on May 7, 2017 by scores of 5-3 and 2-0.

Up Next:

The Peacocks remain at home for a weekend series against Quinnipiac from April 17-18. Both days will feature games starting at 12 p.m. and 2 p.m.
