Women's Basketball 2021-22 MAAC Schedule Released

JERSEY CITY, NJ - One day after the Saint Peter's University women's basketball program released its non-conference slate, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) today announced the 2021-22 league schedule. The 20-game MAAC schedule for Saint Peter's women's basketball will tip off in mid-December.

 

The Peacocks open up conference play with their annual road-trip to Buffalo, where they will take on Niagara (Friday, Dec. 17) and Canisius two days later (Sunday, Dec.19). They then will have their conference home opener on Thursday, Dec. 30, welcoming Quinnipiac to the newly renovated Run Baby Run Arena inside The Victor R. Yanitelli, S.J. Recreational Life Center (RLC).

 

The calendar turns to 2022 with a New Year's Day game at home against the Manhattan Jaspers. Saint Peter's hits the road again for the next three games, starting with a date at Fairfield (Thursday, Jan. 6) in Connecticut and then a road test two days later at hOURglass rival Monmouth (Saturday, Jan. 8). Five days later, the Peacocks return to Connecticut to take on Quinnipiac for the second time (Thursday, Jan.13).

 

Saint Peter's rounds out January with three games at home versus Canisius (Thursday, Jan. 20), Iona, (Saturday, Jan. 22) and defending MAAC regular season and conference tournament champions, Marist (Saturday, Jan. 29).

 

February begins on the road for the Peacocks which sees the team matched up against Manhattan (Thursday, Feb. 3). The squad returns to Jersey City for a two-game set the following week, taking on Siena (Thursday, Feb.10) and hOURglass rival Rider (Saturday, Feb. 12), before going back on the road the next week for a pair of away games, taking on Marist (Thursday, Feb. 17) and Iona (Saturday, Feb. 19).

 

The busy month of February finishes out with three contests, including two against their rivals. The only Monday game of the season occurs at home against hOURglass rival Monmouth (Monday, Feb. 21). Three days later, the Purple Eagles of Niagara come to Jersey City (Thursday, Feb. 24). The Peacocks conclude February with a road bout against hOURglass rival Rider (Saturday, Feb. 26)

 

SPU only has two contests in March, which rounds out the regular season. The Peacocks visit Siena (Thursday, Mar. 3) to finish out their road slate for the season; then host the Fairfield Stags (Saturday, Mar. 5) for the final game of the regular season. 

 

The 2021-22 campaign will culminate with the 2022 MAAC Men's & Women's Basketball Championships from March 8-12 in Atlantic City, NJ. Historic Jim Whelan Boardwalk Hall will once again play host to the championships for the third-straight season.

 

Tip times for the full women's basketball schedule will be announced at a later date.
