Hoyt Scores; Men’s Soccer Loses to Drexel Tuesday Night

PHILADELPHIA, PA- The Saint Peter's University men's soccer team fell to Drexel University by a score of 5-1 on Tuesday night. Senior forward Matt Hoyt scored the lone goal for the Peacocks.

Game Notes:

• The Dragons got on the score sheet in the 29th minute to make the score 1-0. The 28 minutes prior to that saw no shots on goal for either team.

• Saint Peter's quickly answered in the 31st minute off the head of Hoyt, who converted a cross from graduate forward Marco Torino. 

• Drexel scored in the 35th minute and then again in the 36th minute to take a 3-1 lead into the half.

• Senior midfielder Jamie Davis struck the left woodwork for Saint Peter's in the 59th minute.

• The Dragons added to their lead late in the game, producing goals in the 75th and 86th minutes. The score finished at 5-1.

Inside the Numbers:

• Hoyt's goal was his second in as many games. It was also the fourth of his career.

• Torino's assist to Hoyt was his first of the season.

• The Peacocks registered eight shots. Hoyt led the team with three, while Davis and freshman forward Jamie Hanson followed with two a-piece.

• Graduate goalkeeper Guillem Badenes Mecho made three saves in 45 minutes of play.

• Junior goalkeeper Herman Wulff played in his first game this season, making one save in 45 minutes.

• Freshman midfielder Alex Costa was issued a yellow card, his third of the season.

• The Peacocks make the short trip to Brooklyn, New York to face the St. Francis Terriers on Saturday, September 11th, with a scheduled 6:00 p.m kick off.
