Volleyball Wins First Set, Loses to Iona

JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Saint Peter's women's volleyball lost three sets to one against Iona on Wednesday.

Freshman Elena Bilhartz was the Peacocks leading scorer on the day, tallying 10.5 points.

Match Notes

• The Peacocks jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first set. Iona ended up coming back and taking 11-10 in the set. The Peacocks ended up winning six of the next seven points to regain their lead at 16-12. The Peacocks would end up winning the first set 25-20.
• Iona flipped the script in the second set, taking a 3-0 lead. The Gaels would also hold a 11-3 lead after 14 points. After being down 23-13, Saint Peter's went on a 6-0 run to cut the deficit, but were unable to complete the comeback as the Gaels won 25-19.
• The Gaels kicked off the third set with a 7-0 lead. Iona would win the set 25-13.
• Saint Peter's never led in the fourth set as Iona would also take the fourth 25-13

• Bilhartz had eight kills and 10.5 points.
• Freshman Morgan Thurlow had ten points and eight kills.
• Freshman Ava Harmon had eight kills and 9.5 points.
• Freshman Alexis Kapales had 13 digs and four assists.
• Freshman Lillian Konrad had 25 assists.

• Saint Peter's is back in action this weekend as they travel to Buffalo to take on Canisius on Saturday, October 8th and Niagara on Sunday October 9th. Both matches are set for 12 p.m.
