BRONX, N.Y. – The Saint Peter's University Cross Country teams continued their 2022 campaign on Friday by participating in The Metropolitan XC Championship. The women participated in a 5K race while the men participated in an 8K.
Shelby Piccinic and Michael Conover led the way once again for the Peacocks, finishing in 15th and 21st place respectively.

The day started with the women's 5K, where the aforementioned Piccinic took 15th place out of 50 women with a time of 20:51.

Diamond McLaughlin finished behind Piccinic for Saint Peter's, placing 41st. McLaughlin finished with a time of 24:55.

Kaylah Davis followed McLaughlin in 43rd place with a time of 26:37.4.

Five straight Peacocks rounded out the race in Anaya Jennings (27:16.1), Karilyn Jimenez (27:54.2), Ka'Rynn Hill (28:17), Nalanie Clement (33:31.8), and Alexus Smith (34:30.4).

The men's 8K then followed, with Michael Conover pacing the Peacocks with a time of 30:09.9.

Gerardo Quaglia made his first appearance of the year for Saint Peter's and finished second on the Peacocks leaderboard with a time of 31:57.9. Brendan Heaney (32:10.3) followed in 35th place overall.

Three more Peacocks participated in the event and rounded out the field in David Szaro (34:21.1; 37th place), Devon Bembridge (34:28.6; 38th place), and Elijiah Kimboba (40:17.1; 39th place) who participated in his first collegiate race.

Saint Peter's again returns to The Bronx on Saturday, October 14th when they participate in the IC4A/ECAC Championship. The event begins at 10am.
