POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – The Saint Peter's University women's basketball team lost to Marist 51-41 Thursday night in McCann Arena. Junior center Kassondra Brown recorded her fourth consecutive double-double, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
The first quarter was low scoring, as neither team was able to generate too much offense. Junior center Kassondra Brown scored the first basket of the game on a layup down low, but Marist followed that with a 7-0 run. Senior guard Kourtney Crane and sophomore guard Rachel Kuhl each hit threes in the quarter. Marist led Saint Peter's 11-8 after the first.
Defense reigned supreme again in the second quarter, as both teams combined for 13 total points. Sophomore forward Sky Castro had a putback layup for the Peacocks midway through the quarter to put the Peacocks on the board in the second. Saint Peter's was only able to generate three more points the rest of the half, as Brown banked in a three with under a minute left to go in the half. Marist led at the half, 19-13. The Peacocks had 19 turnovers in the first half.
Saint Peter's was finally able to generate some offense after the break. Castro hit a mid range jumper to get the Peacocks started. At the 8:01 mark, Brown hit her second three of the game, this time from the left wing. On the next possession, graduate guard Kendrea Williams finally got on the score sheet with a driving layup to tie the game at 21. Later in the quarter, Kuhl made her second three of the game to answer a Marist three to keep the deficit at four. Brown would go on to score the final four points of the quarter for the Peacocks to make the score 35-33 in favor of Marist heading into the final frame.
The Peacocks opened the fourth with more trouble scoring, unable to score any points for the first six minutes. Brown finally broke the drought with a putback layup with 3:42 remaining in the game to cut the Marist lead to six. Saint Peter's wouldn't score again until freshman forward Kaila Dawkins made two free throws with 50 seconds left. Marist would hold on to the lead down the stretch, winning 51-41.

- Brown recorded her eighth double-double on the year, scoring 15 and adding 10 boards. She also had three steals.
- Castro scored six points and grabbed 12 rebounds.
- Kuhl once again led the team in scoring off of the bench, scoring eight points.
