JERSEY CITY, NJ – Women's basketball graduate student
Kendrea Williams has been named the 2022 Saint Peter's University Woman of the Year award recipient, as announced by the New Jersey Association of Intercollegiate Athletics for Women (NJAIAW) in conjunction with the university.
The Piscataway native serves as the leader of the Peacocks' women's basketball team, scoring a team high 15.3 points per game this season while also playing a team-high 32.0 minutes per contest. Williams hit three three pointers in the game against Rider on 2/12 which broke the career three-point record at Saint Peter's, as she now has 174 and counting. Tania Kennedy '09 previously held the record with 167 during her outstanding career. Williams reached the 1,000 point milestone at Saint Peter's in the last game against Marist, scoring a layup with 3:26 left in the fourth quarter to hit the magic number. She is the 24th Peacock in history to achieve this. Williams eclipsed the 2,000 point mark of her career with 3:47 remaining in the second quarter against Canisius on 12/19. She has achieved that total by scoring for both FDU-Florham and Saint Peter's.
She was also a 2019-20 and 2020-21 All-MAAC Academic Team Selection, as well as a 2020-21 All-MAAC Third Team selection and a 2021-22 Preseason All-MAAC Third team selection.
The NJAIAW honors the outstanding female student-athletes from high schools, colleges and universities throughout New Jersey. Each Woman of the Year recipient has made significant contributions to her institution and community through athletic accomplishments, academic success, and community involvement.
National Girls and Women in Sports Day is a nationwide campaign, which recognizes the achievements of female athletes at all levels of competition.
