Softball Falls to Sacred Heart on Tuesday

FAIRFIELD, C.T. (March 22, 2022) - The Saint Peter's university softball team lost to Sacred Heart University 4-1 on Tuesday afternoon.

Top Performers

• Olyvia Smith went 3-4 at the plate and scored one run.
• Maiah Skakal recorded one hit and had an RBI for Saint Peter's.
• Cara McNulty recorded the only other hit for the Peacocks.
• It was a joint effort from the Peacocks pitching staff, as Christina Colon, Taylor Rondon, and Kasidy Slusser each pitched.

How It Happened

• After Smith reached base with a leadoff hit, she was brought home by Skakal on an RBI single to put the Peacocks on the board in the first.
• Colon got out of a bases-loaded jam in the second inning.
• Sacred Heart scored twice in the third.
• The Pioneers tacked on another run in the fourth.
• Sacred Heart was able to strike again in the sixth.

• We had them on the ropes early and we were one big hit away from blowing things open. We played fantastic defense again but ran into some pretty good pitching. 
• We are looking forward to getting into conference play soon.

Next Up

• The Peacocks return to action next Tuesday afternoon with a double header rematch against Wagner in Staten Island. Start times are scheduled to start at 2 p.m. and 4 p.m.
