STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. (March 29, 2022) - The Saint Peter's university softball team fell to Wagner 6-3 and 3-2 on Tuesday afternoon.
Top Performers
- Katie Sciglimpaglia had a monster day, recording three hits, scoring three runs, and getting two RBIs. She hit a solo home run in Game 1.
- Cara McNulty had three hits and earned an RBI across the two games.
- Olyvia Smith recorded two hits and scored two runs.
- Sydney Senerchia pitched a phenomenal game in Game 2. She went 6.2 innings, only allowed one earned run, and recorded three strikeouts.
- Dakota Pitts had a hit and an RBI in Game 2.
How It Happened (Game One)
- Sciglimpaglia hit a solo home run in the top of the first to put the Peacocks up early.
- Wagner scored three runs across the first two innings to take a 3-1 lead.
- Saint Peter's got back on the scoreboard in the third as McNulty hit an RBI double to score Smith and cut the Seahawks lead in half.
- The Seahawks scored three runs across the fifth and the sixth innings to extend their lead to 6-2.
- Maiah Skakal batted home Sciglimpaglia on a fielder's choice in the seventh inning.
How It Happened (Game Two)
- After the first five innings went scoreless, the Peacocks jumped on the Seahawks in the sixth inning. After Smith reached on an error, Sciglimpaglia recorded her second RBI on the day after she hit a double to score Smith. Saint Peter's would score again later in the sixth after Dakota Pitts singled to center field to score Sciglimpaglia.
- Senerchia pitched well for six innings, not allowing any runs and keeping the Peacocks within striking distance.
- Wagner scored three runs in the bottom of the seventh to walk it off and to sweep the Peacocks this season.

- A couple of really tough losses. We are struggling to get the job done with the little things right now.
- I'm hoping we learned in time for conference play that the little things mean everything.
