EDISON, N.J. (March 8, 2022) - After three stellar performances in the circle on the week, Saint Peter's University softball freshman Kasidy Slusser has become the first student-athlete in program history to earn Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) Rookie of the Week honors for the first time in her collegiate career.
Slusser appeared in three games for the Peacocks and earned two wins while not allowing a single run over 6.0 innings of work for a perfect 0.00 ERA.Â
Since the award's inception in the 2017 season, no SPU softball player has won a MAAC Rookie of the Week award. In fact, Slusser is the first to win a MAAC weekly award since the awards were expanded in 2017 to include a pitcher, player and rookie of the week.
Across 6.0 innings on the week, Slusser gave up just six hits and earned the win in a pair of contests becoming the first Peacock to notch multiple wins this season.Â
This season, the Hanover Township, Pa., native has a minuscule 0.64 ERA and has shown impressive command with just one walk in 11.0 total innings on the year.
Slusser and the Peacocks have now reached nine total wins this season in just 14 games, marking the best start for SPU since starting 9-3 in 2006.
