Marc Mitchell Named Head Women’s Basketball Coach at the University of Indianapolis

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (June 29, 2022) - Saint Peter's University women's basketball head coach Marc Mitchell, who spent the last four years at the helm of the program, has been announced as the head coach at the University of Indianapolis. A national search to find the next women's basketball coach will begin immediately.

"I want to thank Marc for his service to our women's basketball program and for his commitment to the student-athletes he coached over the last four years," Director of Athletics Rachelle Paul said. "I wish him and his family all the best."

In his time at Saint Peter's, Mitchell was able to turn the program into a contender year in and year out in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC), becoming the first Saint Peter's coach since Stephanie DeWolfe (2008-09, 2009-10) to produce back-to-back seasons with double-digit victories.

In total, Mitchell amassed 41 total victories in four seasons, 26 of which came in MAAC play. The 2020-21 MAAC Co-Coach of the Year, Mitchell led the Peacocks to the MAAC Tournament Championship game in 2021, the first appearance for SPU in the title contest since 1991.

Mitchell's student-athletes have garnered numerous accolades in his time in Jersey City. In total, seven different players have been named to the All-MAAC teams including Taiah Thorton who became the first Peacock since 2007-08 to earn First Team All-MAAC honors in 2019-20.

SPU has also had success in the classroom under Mitchell with 22 different players earning Academic All-MAAC honors including seven in 2021-22. Additionally, Mitchell has led the Peacocks to a perfect 100 percent Graduation Success Rate (GSR) in each of the last three academic years.
