Peacocks Preview: This Week In Saint Peter's Athletics

JERSEY CITY, NJ. - The week ahead for Saint Peter's Athletics includes a loaded slate. SPU volleyball and soccer hosts home events this week and Golf and Cross Country competes on the road. The Saint Peter's men's soccer team has a bye week this week. 

Women's Soccer
The Saint Peter's women's soccer team (3-5) fell 1-0 to Mount St. Mary's on Saturday Sep. 30 on the road. Alyssa Hackett is currently the team-leader in goals with four and assists with four. This week the Peacocks host Rider (3-6-1) at Jaroschak Field in a weekday matchup on Wednesday Oct. 4 at 3PM. The match will be streamed on the Peacocks Digital Network. 

Volleyball
Last weekend the Saint Peter's volleyball team competed at the Yanitelli Center for its first home matches of the season. SPU hosts Canisius (3-11) on Saturday, Oct. 7 and Niagara (5-9) on Sunday, Oct. 8 at the Yanitelli Center. Both matches will be streamed on the Peacocks Digital Network. 

Golf
The SPU men's golf began its fall season at the Binghamton 2023 Mathews Auto Collegiate Golf  Invitational (Sep. 30 - Oct. 2) and placed 13th. The Peacocks will travel to the Bucknell Golf Club in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania and compete in the Bucknell Invitational from Sunday Oct. 8 - Tuesday Oct. 10. 

Cross Country
On Monday, Saint Peter's hosted a dual meet between Essex County College and FDU at Jaroschak Field.  The SPU men's team fell to the Essex County College men in the men's 5K 18-40. In the women's 3K, the SPU women's cross country team defeated FDU 27-28. This marked the first head-to-head win for the SPU women's cross country team under head coach John Marshall. SPU's highest finisher in the men's 5K was Brendan Heaney who finished third with a time of 17.28. Diamond McLaughlin came in third in the women's 3K with a time of 14:48. 

This weekend Cross Country travels to the Metro Championship. This meet will be located at and begins at 10AM.
