JERSEY CITY, N.J. - Freshman forward Fatmata Janneh earns Hercules Tires MAAC Student-Athlete Of The Week.
Freshman forward Fatmata Janneh has showcased her skills from the very second she has stepped onto the court this season. Janneh has already accumulated four career double-doubles this season. For her most impressive performance of the season, she posted 21 points and 12 rebounds against Wagner, her third career double-double.
During the Conference home opener against Marist, Janneh scored six points in the first five minutes of the first half. With 14 points and 17 rebounds at the end of the game, she recorded her fourth double-double of the season.
The newcomer from London has quickly left a mark on the Peacocks' performance in the initial month of the season. Janneh achieved a remarkable 15 points and 13 rebounds, securing a double-double during SPU's 61-57 victory against Central Connecticut State. With an average of nine points per game this season, this SPU standout is presently leading the Peacocks in scoring.
Janneh was named the MAAC Rookie of the Week on December 4th, 2023 for her performance on the court.
