McNulty Drives in Six Runs as Softball Sweeps Wagner

STATEN ISLAND, N.Y.- Saint Peter's University softball senior Cara McNulty (Middletown, N.J.) drove in six runs as the Peacocks swept a non-conference twin bill against Wagner College. Saint Peter's won the opener 5-3 and took the nightcap 12-1 in five innings.
 
The Peacocks improve to 16-7 overall, while the Seahawks fall to 5-15.
 
In the opener, McNulty went 4-for-4 with two runs scored and three RBI. She singled in two runs in the first inning to put the Peacocks ahead 2-0. McNulty added a run scoring triple in the fifth, while sophomore Dakota Pitts (Abingdon, Md.) drove in a run with a sacrifice fly in the fifth.
 
Graduate Sydney Senerchia (Northford, Conn.) earned the win, tossing 6 1/3 innings, allowing three runs on five hits with two strikeouts to improve to 7-1. Freshman Sydney Palmer (Fellsmere, Fla,.) recorded the final two outs to pick up her second save of the season.
 
Saint Peter's took control in the first inning of game two with nine runs. McNulty drove in two runs in the inning, while freshman Tai Turner (Havre De Grace, Md.) and junior Maiah Skakal (Horseheads, N.Y.) drew bases loaded walks to force in runs.  Junior Kourtney Ketcham (Otisville, N.Y.) doubled in a run in the inning, while junior Kaitlynn Peters (Drums, Pa.) added a two-run single in the fourth.
 
Palmer tossed a complete game, allowing one run on four hits, striking out one to improve to 3-2.
 
The Peacocks open Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference play as they travel to Siena College for a doubleheader on Monday April 3 at noon.
