LOUDONVILLE, NY. - The Saint Peter's University volleyball team began conference play on the road at Siena Wednesday. The Peacocks fell in three sets to none to the Saints (1-9.) SPU dropped to 0-11 on the season.
Match Notes
- SPU sophomore Mackenzie Tucker led the Peacocks with eight kills which brought her career-total to 158. Additionally, Lilly Konrad was a standout for Saint Peter's as she recorded a team-high 13 assists and five digs.
- In the opening set, SPU trailed 9-5 before the Saints won the next seven consecutive points. Siena pulled away and took the first set 25-14.
- The second set was tightly contested through the majority. The Peacocks were down 13-9 and mounted a 3-0 run highlighted by a service ace from Madison Somberg. The Peacocks libero notched her eighth service ace of her career. With the score at 13-12, the Saints answered with a 7-0 run of its own and closed out the set 25-16.
- In the third set, Tucker's seventh kill brought the Peacocks within three before the Saints won the next four points and took a 16-9 lead. Siena outscored Saint Peter's 9-6 and won the third set 25-15.
- Siena had eight more service aces and 26 more points than Saint Peter's. SPU was active at the net as it had 10 block assists, six more than Siena. Morgan Thurlow recorded a team-high three blocks.
- The Peacocks dropped to 0-1 in MAAC play.
Conference play continues for the Peacocks on the road. Saint Peter's travels to Manhattan for a match on Saturday Sep. 16 at 4PM and Iona on Sunday Sep. 17 at 1.
