HEMPSTEAD, NY. - The Saint Peter's cross country team began its season at the Hofstra Invitational. 10 Saint Peter's student-athletes competed in a 5K race. The Saint Peter's men's cross country team fell 15-40 and the women's side 15-45.
In the men's 5K, the Peacocks were led by
Brendan Heaney, who placed sixth in a time of 17:39.40. SPU freshman
Connor Zoilkowski was seventh in 18.34.60, followed by
Diego Ruiz at 19.05.40,
Devon Bembridge came in ninth place with a time of 19.26.30, and Malique Jackson came in 10th-place at 25.10.70. The Pride claimed the top five finishers of the race. Hofstra's Brian Beck finished the race first with a time of 15.37.0.
In the women's 5K,
Diamond McLaughlin placed seventh at 25:10.80 as Saint Peter's highest finisher. Mikayla Surles was eighth in 26:18.40 followed by Karilynn Jimenez in ninth at 26:22.30.
Shanelle Vilson (10th, 29:58.10) and Michelle Cherono finished 11th with a time of 33:19.80. HU's Jordyn McDonnel completed the race first in 18.60.90.
Next, the Peacocks will host a dual meet with NJIT at Jaroschak Field on Friday Sep. 29.
