Box Score RIVERDALE, N.Y. – The Saint Peter's Women's Basketball team fell short Saturday afternoon to Manhattan by a score of 41-37.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Freshman Fatmata Janneh opened up the floor Saturday afternoon by shooting from beyond the three point arc. Janneh was the lead scorer for the Peacocks in the afternoon, securing 12 points and adding six rebounds.
During the first quarter, sophomore guard Jada Leonard contributed a driving layup which was assisted by senior guard Rachel Kuhl. Graduate Student Maria Fux and Kuhl hit 3-point goals to draw the Peacocks close, leaving the score 14-11 in favor of the Jaspers after the first quarter.
Graduate Student Maya Hyacienth hit a shot beyond the 3-point arc, helping the Peacocks take the lead by a score of 16-14 with five minutes and 47 seconds left in the second quarter. As the game approached the half, the score was 20-17 Peacocks.
After halftime, the Peacocks continued to take the lead. Freshman Carys Roy started off the third quarter with a layup assisted by Leonard. Following that, Janneh hit a 3-point goal and the Peacocks stretched their lead even further. At the end of the third quarter, the score was 33-28. Ultimately, the Peacocks fell behind in the fourth quarter and were unable to overcome the deficit.
Roy led the squad in steals with a total of three. Kuhl shot 2-of-4 in 3-pointers and Janneh went 3-of-5 from the floor.

The Peacocks travel to New Rochelle where the squad takes on Iona. Tip-off is scheduled for 11am on Thursday, January 18th. The game will be available to watch on ESPN+.
