ALBANY, N.Y. - The Saint Peter's Men's Basketball team (11-7, 7-2 MAAC) defeated the Siena Saints (3-17, 2-7 MAAC) 62-53 Sunday, at MVP Arena.
Latrell Reid led the Peacocks with a career-high 21 points, two rebounds, two assists, and one steal. Roy Clarke started for the Peacocks and dropped 10 points, with eight rebounds, two assists, and two steals.
The game featured 15 lead changes. A late run in the second half pushed the Peacocks past the Saints. Saint Peter's held Siena to 53 points which is their second lowest in a conference win this season.
The Peacocks (11-7) improved to 7-2 in MAAC play and are second in the MAAC standings.
How it Happened

Down 9-8 in the first half, the Peacocks went on a 9-0 run. A layup from Mouhamed Sow put Saint Peter's up 17-9. For the game, Sow tallied eight points, with four rebounds, two blocks, and two steals.

The Saints shot 60% (12-20 FG) in the first half led by Zek Tekin. Tekin scored 17 points in the first half and finished the game with 22 points, five rebounds, two assists, and two steals. A late basket from Siena's Kyle Winters tied the game up at 33-33 with five seconds left in the first half.

Reid scored 12 of his 21 points in the second half. The SPU senior scored six straight points for SPU and 10 of Saint Peter's next 12 points. A jump shot from Reid on a fast break put the Peacocks up 47-42 at the 12:47 mark.

The Saints tied the game up at 51-51 before the Peacocks took the final lead with six minutes left. A jump shot from Reid on a fast break put the Peacocks up 56-51, with 2:53 left. Saint Peter's closed out the game scoring six of the game's last seven points and won 62-53.

This is the second time in Reid's career he's dropped 20+ points. The SPU senior scored 20 in Saint Peter's 66-60 win over UMBC (Tuesday, Dec. 12, 2023).

Reid has scored in double figures in 14 games this season and leads the Peacocks in assists this year with 4.4 per game, which is third in the MAAC.

Saint Peter's scored 21 points off turnovers, 26 points in the paint, and 15 fast break points.
