MONTGOMERY, NY. - The Saint Peter's cross country team competed in the MAAC Championships at Twin Ponds on the Farm. The Peacocks finished in thirteenth place in the team standings in both events.
In the men's 8k, senior Gerardo Quaglia was the highest-placed Peacock on the day. He finished the race with a time of 27:51.1 and took 138th out of 173 runners. This marks Quaglia's third consecutive year as the highest-placed male for Saint Peter's at the MAAC Championships. Following not too far was senior Brendan Heaney, who finished with a time of 28:17.4. Times from the other Peacocks include: Nicholaus Michael (30:41.7), Kenneth Montes (34:17.2), and closing out for the Peacocks was Connor Ziolkowski (34:50.8).
Iona keeps its three-decade streak alive, claiming first overall in the men's 8k with a score of 15. Iona's own, Lachlan Wellington, took first place with a time of 23:57.4.
On the women's side, freshman Shirleysa Rivas was the top Peacock finisher in the 6k. Rivas finished with a time of 26:42.5 and placed 146th out of 156 runners. Following behind Rivas were Paulina Nunez (29:02.1), Diamond McLaughlin (31:39.1), Madeline Castillo ( 35:29.9), and Luisana Flores (43:53.3).
Quinnipiac took first overall in the standings with a score of 31, marking their third consecutive MAAC Championship title. Fairfield's freshman Hannah Snayd claimed first with a time of 20:36.3.
