JERSEY CITY, N.J.- Saint Peter's University Women's Swimming & Diving split Saturday's home tri-meet against Sacred Heart University and Merrimack College.
The women's team defeated Merrimack by nine points, 135-126. Saint Peter's came up on the losing end of the head-to-head against Sacred Heart, 182-79.
The Peacocks had a strong showing throughout the meet.
Maddie McKinney claimed the first-place finish in the Women's 1,000-Yard Freestyle heat in the third event of the day. McKinney followed that up with two second-place performances in the Women's 100-Yard Backstroke and Women's 500-Yard Freestyle.
Paige Austin-Burrows was the winner of the Women's 200-Yard Butterfly heat with a 2:15.21 finals time. She also had her second first-place finish of the afternoon with a 59.67 finals time in the Women's 100-Yard Butterfly. Austin-Burrows was in second place in the Women's 200-Yard Backstroke.
The other top three individual finishers for Saint Peter's were
Sophie Doran and
Gwendolyn Mendez. Saint Peter's had a pair of second-place relay finishes in the Women's 200-Yard Medley Relay and the 400-Yard Freestyle Relay heat.
With Saturday's split result in the books, the Peacocks will have nearly two weeks before the team's next event at the ECAC Winter Championships in East Meadow, N.Y. The three-day event will feature both men's and women's teams from Friday, Dec. 6 through Sunday, Dec. 8.
