EAST MEADOW, N.Y.- Saint Peter's Swimming & Diving had a fifth-place finish in the men's championships and a seventh-place finish in the women's championships at the 2024 Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) Winter Championships.
On the men's side, the Peacocks finished fifth in a seven-team field. The men's roster totaled 690.5 points across the three-day championship. Highlighting the men's side was a first-place finish in the men's 400-yard IM race by freshman
Juan Nunez. In that race, Nunez had a 4:00.51 finals time for the Peacocks.
Not to be outdone, sophomore
Tristan Raso came in second in the men's 100-yard butterfly race with a 49.60 finals time. Nunez and Raso headlined a strong weekend for the entire team.
In the women's slate, the relay team in the 400-yard medley scored a seventh-place finish. That team included
Maddie McKinney,
Gwendolyn Mendez,
Paige Austin-Burrows, and
Sophie Doran. The women's 200-yard medley relay team of Francesca Solano Vargas, Mendez, Austin-Burrows, and Doran landed a top-10 finish with a 1:49.45 finals time in the race.
In the women's 400-yard IM, Austin-Burrows placed fifth with a strong time of 4:36.35.Overall, the Peacocks remained competitive with the rest of the teams throughout the championships on both sides.
Following the ECAC Winter Championships, the Peacocks will have more than one month off between meets. The next meet will be a road meet at Montclair State University on Thursday, Jan. 16, 2025.
