Box Score LAWRENCEVILLE, N.J. – The Saint Peter's Women's Basketball team were defeated by the Rider Broncs Thursday night by a score of 59-48. The Peacocks had three scorers that came in double-digits. Sophomore guard Jada Leonard tacked on 17 points to the squad. Graduate guard Mikia Keith and freshman forward Fatmata Janneh both contributed 11 points to the board.
HOW IT HAPPENED
Graduate guard Mikia Keith opened up the game for the Peacocks with a jumper, while freshman forward Fatmata Janneh scored in the paint. Keith shot from downtown giving the Peacocks a lead early on in the first quarter.
During the second quarter, graduate forward Maria Fux contributed a layup to the squad. Following that, freshman center Carys Roy and Janneh both connected on two free throws. The Broncs took a 38-14 lead into halftime.
Saint Peter's kicked off the second half with sophomore guard Jada Leonard having a fast break layup. Leonard then connected two free throws and followed up with a jumper. Janneh and Keith both each contributed two points to the squad.
At the start of the final quarter, Leonard shot beyond the three-point arc, while Janneh had a driving layup. Keith and Leonard both tacked two points each to the board. Leonard added another four points to the squad following that, finishing the game with 17 points. The Broncs extended their lead but held off a Peacock rally down the stretch.
