Men's Basketball Takes On Quinnipiac Thursday

JERSEY CITY, NJ. - The Saint Peter's Men's Basketball team travels to M&T Bank Arena in Hamden, Connecticut, for a game at Quinnipiac on Thursday, Feb. 8. The game tips off at 7PM and will be on ESPN+. 

Overview
Saint Peter's (11-9, 7-4 MAAC) is third in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference standings. The Bobcats are on a nine game winning-streak since Jan. 5, and are currently atop the MAAC standings with a 10-1 record in conference play. The Bobcats have a three game lead over Saint Peter's, Niagara, and Fairfield (all 7-4).  

This is the first contest between these two teams this season. This matchup features high-powered offense and elite defense. Quinnipiac leads the MAAC with 78.5 points per game. Saint Peter's is ranked 13th in the nation in scoring defense (63.6 points per game). 

Matt Balanc is second in the MAAC with 18.7 points per game. QU has two of the top-five rebounders in the MAAC in Tice Amarri at fourth (7.1 rebounds per game) and Paul Otieno, who is fifth in the MAAC with seven rebounds per game. Otieno has been extremely efficient from the field this season. The QU senior leads the MAAC in field goal percentage (.604). QU graduate student Savion Lewis has distributed a team-high 7.5 assists per game this season, which leads the MAAC. 

SPU sophomore Corey Washington is averaging 14.5 points per game this season. The preseason All-MAAC honoree is eighth in the MAAC in scoring. Saint Peter's senior Latrell Reid has tallied 10+ points in 15 games and distributed a team-high 83 assists this season. Reid is fourth in the MAAC with 4.2 assists per game. The New Jersey native has tallied career-high marks in points and assists in January. Reid scored 21 points in Saint Peter's 63-52 win at Siena (Jan. 28), and distributed 11 assists in SPU's 81-68 win over Manhattan (Jan. 14).

Series 
Saint Peter's is 16-7 all-time against Quinnipiac. In the last matchup the Bobcats defeated the Peacocks at Burt Kahn Court 58-51 (Jan. 13, 2023). The Peacocks are 7-3 in their last 10 games versus Quinnipiac.
