JERSEY CITY. - The Saint Peter's Softball team begins its 2024 campaign with a double header at Central Connecticut State on Saturday, Feb. 10. The first game is set for 12 PM and the second at 2 PM.
Chris Stelma enters his eighth season at the helm. The coaching staff added 11 newcomers to the team with 11 returners. Key returners for Saint Peter's are Cara McNulty, Kristen Brennan, Kaitlynn Peters, Isabella Chugranis, Maiah Skakal, Kasidy Slusser, Kaylee Lacomb, Jess Forte, Sophie Wilson, Tai Turner and the 2023 MAAC Co-Defensive Player of the Year Dakota Pitts.Â
A trio of Peacocks received All-MAAC accolades last season. Pitts had over 370 putouts as the Peacocks first baseman with only three errors. Last year, McNulty made the All-MAAC Second Team for the second time in her career. McNulty led the Peacocks with a .373 batting average, 60 hits and 17 doubles. She added 31 runs scored, two home runs, 30 RBIs and was 6-for-6 in stolen bases. Additionally, D1 Softball ranked McNulty as the 15th best middle infielder in the nation in Jan. 25. McNulty also received preseason All-MAAC honors for this season.Â
Turner made an immediate impact as a freshman last season. Turner led the Peacocks with 41 RBIs, and made the All-MAAC Rookie Team. Turner turned in a tremendous first season for the Peacocks, finishing third on the team with a .343 batting average this spring and leading the team with 41 RBI. She added 34 runs scored, 48 hits, 14 doubles, two triples, five home runs, a .579 slugging percentage, a .966 OPS mark and was 6-for-9 in stolen bases.Â
