JERSEY CITY, NJ. - The Saint Peter's Softball team defeated the Fairfield Stags 4-3 in the final game of Saturday's doubleheader at Jaroschak Field. Saint Peter's
Jess Forte led the Peacocks at the plate. The SPU junior went 3-5 at the plate with two home runs and four RBIs. Forte hit both her home runs in extra innings.
The Peacocks won two out of three against the Stags this weekend. SPU is 12-15 this season and 2-1 in conference play.

Game One - Fairfield - 10 | Saint Peter's - 2 (5 innings.)
The Stags tallied nine hits in the game and scored four runs in the top of the third inning. Fairfield followed up with a five-run inning in the top of the fourth inning. Fairfield's Quinn Mcgonigle hit a three-run home run. SPU freshman
Ashley Murphy recorded her first career RBI.
Game 2 - Saint Peter's - 4 | Fairfield - 3 (10 Innings)
Morgan Lipansky pitched a complete game and picked up her first career win. Lipansky pitched 10 innings and had six strikeouts.
In the top of the eighth inning, with runners on first and third, Fairfield's Martina Gutierrez smacked a three-run home run, and the Stags led 3-0.
The Peacocks answered back.
Dakota Pitts got on base with a single. Later in the inning,
Maiah Skakal delivered a double that advanced Pitts to third base. Down to the final strike, Forte smacked her first home run of the evening and tied the game up at 3-3. In the bottom of the 10th inning, with two outs, Forte blasted a walk-off home run over the right field fence. Forte has tallied five home runs this season.
The Peacocks travel to Buffalo, New York, for a three-game series at Canisius (8-12, 3-10 MAAC) next weekend. Saint Peter's plays Canisius in a doubleheader on Saturday, April 6. The first game is at 12 PM.
