EMMITSBURG, MD. - The Saint Peter's Softball team defeated Mount St. Mary's in Sunday's series finale 13-8. The Peacocks tallied 11 hits in the game and picked up their fifth conference win of the season.

SPU's Jess Forte led the Peacocks with five RBIs. Forte went 3-4 at the plate, one run scored, one double, and one sacrifice fly.

Saint Peter's pitcher Kristen Brennan started in the circle, recorded her 30th strikeout of the season, and picked up her second win of the weekend. Brennan has a team-high seven wins for the Peacocks this season.

Mount St. Mary's Tori Bowles led the Mountaineers with three home runs in the game. Additionally, Bowles went 4-4 at the plate with six RBIs and one double.

MSM's Bowles homered to left field and the Mountaineers led 1-0 in the bottom of the first inning.

Saint Peter's bats were active in the top of the second inning. The Peacocks scored five runs highlighted by an RBI single from SPU senior Kaitlynn Peters and an RBI single from Kaylee Lacomb. Additionally, the Peacocks scored three of the five runs on fielding errors.

Bowles hit her second home run of the day in the bottom of the third inning, a three-run home run to left field. Bowles' home run cut the Mountaineers deficit to 5-4.

Saint Peter's scored three runs in the third and fourth innings. Forte delivered a sacrifice fly that scored Sydney Orndorff from third. Dakota Pitts hit her sixth home run of the year to left field, a two-run home run, and Saint Peter's led 8-4.

In the top of the fifth inning, with bases loaded, Cara McNulty was hit by pitch. Forte added runs with a two-RBI single through the left side. The Peacocks led 11-4.

The Mountaineers responded with three runs in the bottom of the fifth inning and cut the Peacocks' advantage to 11-7.

Sydney Orndorff singled to second base in the top of the seventh inning followed by Maiah Skakal. Skakal was hit by a pitch and McNulty reached on a fielder's choice. With two runners on base Forte hit a two-RBI single to center field.

Bowles hit her third home run of the game in the bottom of the seventh inning.
The Peacocks return to Jaroschak Field for a three-game series against Marist. Saint Peter's hosts Marist on Tuesday, Apr. 23, in a doubleheader that starts at noon. The series concludes with a game on Wednesday, Apr. 24 at noon.
