JERSEY CITY, NJ- The Saint Peter's University cross country program ran at Jaroschak Field on Friday in a dual meet with FDU and Essex County College. The SPU men's team fell short in the men's 5k, losing to FDU 15-40. And in the women's 3k, Saint Peter's also couldn't secure a victory, with FDU winning 18-37.
In the women's 3k, the Peacocks had three top-ten finishes. Freshman
Shirleyas Rivas made her debut today as she was the highest placed Peacock on the day, placing fourth overall with a time of 13:30. Following her came fellow freshman
Paulina Nunez, placing eighth with a time of 14:47. In tenth was senior
Diamond McLaughlin with a time of 16:53, followed by sophomores
Madeline Castillo in 11th (17:24) and
Lusiana Flores (21:56).
On the men's side, the Peacocks claimed two top-ten finishes in the 5k. Coming in sixth was senior
Gerardo Quaglia with a time of 18:36, and following in seventh was fellow senior
Brendan Heaney (18:37). Freshmen
Solomon Dunham placed 12th (20:36) and
Kenneth Montes 14th (22:00). Directly behind them was sophomore
Connor Ziolkowski in 15th (22:11) and freshman
Ajani Peck-Wekunda in 16th (23:03).
Next, the Saint Peter's cross-country team will travel to the University of Eastern Shore on Saturday, September 28.
