JERSEY CITY, N.J. – A week from today, The Saint Peter's University men's basketball team tips off the 2025-26 season on Monday, Nov. 3, when the Peacocks take on Seton Hall in the season opener for the third consecutive year. The Peacocks and Pirates are scheduled to tip off at 7:30 p.m. ET at the Prudential Center.
A year ago, the Peacocks had a physical battle with the Pirates to open the season, but Saint Peter's second-half comeback fell short as Seton Hall secured a four-point victory, 57-53. This time around, both rosters look drastically different as the Peacocks return six players and the Pirates return just four players from 2024-25.
Bashir Mason is entering his fourth season as head coach of the Saint Peter's men's basketball program, and he is joined by five other coaches on his staff. His assistant coaches are
Pete Cipriano,
Keydren Clark,
Scott Rodgers,
Vince Johnson and new Director of Basketball Operations from UConn,
Chris Mastrangelo.
The Peacocks brought in six new transfers and one true freshman for a total roster size of 13 players. The returners include
Brent Bland,
Bryce Eaton,
Elijah Perkins,
Eric Morgan Jr.,
Zaakir Williamson and
Adetokunbo Bakare. Eaton was named to the Preseason All-MAAC Second Team ahead of the season.
The six incoming transfers for Saint Peter's are
Jahki Gupton,
Lucas Scroggins,
Shaedon Simpson,
Bol Agu,
J'Quan Ewing and
Akil Watson, and the one true freshman is guard
TJ Robinson.
Saint Peter's added a lot of height to its roster in the offseason, while Mason made sure the Peacocks kept their physical identity. The Peacocks' physicality and grit are going to be needed early on in a challenging nonconference slate.
After taking on Seton Hall, Saint Peter's will play its first home game at Run Baby Run Arena against FDU on Saturday, Nov. 8. The Peacocks will then hit the road and head to Richmond, Va. to play VCU on Nov. 12. The November slate finishes off with an away game at Delaware on Nov. 18, and two home games against UMass Lowell on Nov. 22 and Dartmouth on Nov. 29.
Saint Peter's starts December with conference play, competing against MAAC opponents Canisius (Dec. 5) and Niagara (Dec. 7). The Peacocks will play their two final nonconference games at Georgetown (Dec. 13) and vs. Centenary (Dec. 22) before continuing MAAC competition right before the new year.
In January, SPU will play five games at Run Baby Run Arena and the remaining three on the road. In February, it will be vice versa, with five away games and three home games. The Peacocks' final game of the regular season will take place at Marist on March 1. Every single contest of the 2025-26 season will be televised on ESPN+.
