MONTCLAIR, N.J - The Saint Peter's men's golf team begin the Metropolitan Collegiate Golf Invitational with a bang as seven players finished the day in the top 50 for individual performance. The Peacocks would wrap up day one with the A team in a third place tie. The standout performances from today come from senior
Shiv Manhas and junior
Jeffery Yong.
Both players came out the gates swinging as on the front nine,
Manhas finished at par and Yong with a one over par. In fact,
Manhas went back to back with birdies on holes four and five. Meanwhile,
Yong had his birdie early at hole two and then stayed consistent with pars throughout the front nine. In the end, both players would finish strong as
Manhas would score a +3 and
Yong with a +4. Placing both inside the top ten for individuals.
Other strong performances from the Peacocks were junior
Mohit Sanagavarapu placing 28th with a round score of +7. Sophomores
Jack Hennelly,
Nick Campanella,
Brennan McCabe, and freshman
Christopher Hannan all had good showings as well.
Hennelly ended the day at +8, placing himself 37th overall.
Campanella,
McCabe, and
Hannan would all score +9 ending the day tied at 39th place.
