EDISON, NJ – After standout performances across a pair of MAAC meets, the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) has named Saint Peter's Swimming & Diving's sophomores
Paige Austin-Burrows and
Juan Nunez as the Jersey Mike's Swimmers of the Week, while freshman
Patch Robinson earned Rookie of the Week honors, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon.
Austin-Burrows, Nunez, and Robinson are the first Saint Peter's swimmers to collect MAAC weekly honors this season.
Austin-Burrows totaled five event victories and a silver across the week. She opened with a dominant outing in the home dual meet against Manhattan, winning the 100- breaststroke (1:09.26, PB) and 100-yard freestyle (57.23). She continued her momentum at Iona, claiming gold in the 100- butterfly (59.51), the only sub-minute time in the field, and the 100-yard IM (1:01.80, PB). Austin-Burrows also delivered the fastest anchor split of the 200-yard freestyle relay (25.26), helping Saint Peter's secure the win in 1:43.84.
Nunez also posted an impressive week, collecting five first-place finishes and a silver between the two meets. In the Peacocks' home opener, he swept the backstroke events with wins in the 100- (53.19, season best) and 200- (1:56.89), led off the winning 200- freestyle relay with a 22.36 split, and anchored the victorious 400-yard freestyle relay in 48.86. Nunez closed the week by taking gold at Iona in the 400-yard IM with a season-best 4:07.84.
Freshman
Patch Robinson rounded out Saint Peter's award winners, totaling four golds and three silvers across the week. In his home debut, Robinson earned wins in the 200- breaststroke (2:15.82) and 400- IM (4:20.02), and added silver in the 200-yard butterfly (2:00.39) while contributing a 49.32 split on the second-place 400 freestyle relay. He extended his strong form at Iona, sweeping the mid-distance freestyle events with victories in the 200- freestyle (1:46.56) and 500-yard freestyle (4:47.85), and picking up another silver as the leadoff leg of the 200 freestyle relay (23.44).
The Peacocks return to action on Saturday, November 22, for a multi-team meet hosted by Sacred Heart University at McCann Natatorium. The women will compete in a quad meet with Sacred Heart, Merrimack, and Bridgeport, while the men will face Bridgeport in a dual. First splash is set for 12:30 p.m.
