JERSEY CITY, N.J - On Monday, the Saint Peter's women's basketball team will battle the Fordham Rams at Rose Hill Gym in the Bronx. Tip off listed for 6 p.m. ET to continue a four game road trip to open the season for the Peacocks.
Last season, the Rams would defeat the Peacocks 64-56. However, the matchup this season will look vastly different for the Rams, as only three players from last year return for the Rams against a Peacock squad that has retained most of the starters from the previous season.
The Peacocks enter the Bronx coming off a tough loss to Seton Hall on Tuesday Nov 4. In the loss however, there were some genuine highlights for the Peacocks, mainly the performance by
De'Naya Rippey who would finish with 16 points and eight rebounds. Another bright spot was seeing the returns of
Carys Roy and
Reilly Sunday after missing the previous year due to injury. Junior
Eszter Turi made a big impact in her debut for the Peacocks as well, contributing on both ends of the floor by grabbing six boards and having a block with two steals.
For the Rams, they are coming off a tough loss against NJIT on Friday 78-82. Alexis Black was far in a way the leader for the Rams, finishing with 30 points, three rebounds, and 3 assists. The Rams made a huge run in the second half, even managing to outscore the Highlanders in both the third and fourth quarters, but it wasn't enough as the Rams now sit at a record of 1-1.
This will be the 45th matchup all time between the Peacocks and the Rams with the overall record favoring Saint Peter's at 29-15. Fordham currently has held a five game win streak against the Peacocks, with the last win for Saint Peter's being on Dec. 12, 2000 with a final score of 70-67.
