JERSEY CITY, N.J.- Saint Peter's Softball lost to Marist University, 3-0, on Sunday afternoon at Jaroschak Field.
This seven-inning game was far more of a defensive battle than Saturday's doubleheader games were. Marist scored all three of their runs across three continuous innings, which was enough of a cushion to hold off the Peacocks.
The Peacocks finished the game with six hits. The team hits leader was sophomore second baseman
Olivia Christopher with two.
Jess Forte,
Tai Turner,
Dakota Pitts and
Taylor Montgomery each had one hit.
Despite receiving the loss in the circle, sophomore starting pitcher
Morgan Lipansky was durable. She went seven innings and tallied five strikeouts for the Peacocks. For Marist, Red Foxes ace Kiley Myers closed out the game in the bottom of the seventh for her second save of the season.
Sunday's loss resulted in a series sweep at the hands of the Red Foxes. The Peacocks fell to 7-13 overall and 0-3 in the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC).
