Box Score NORTH ANDOVER, Mass.- Saint Peter's Softball fell to Merrimack College, 6-4, on Sunday afternoon at Warriors Softball Complex. The ending of the game fell apart for the Peacocks after having a two-run lead.
Through the first five innings, Saint Peter's overcame a 2-0 lead and found itself ahead by two runs, 4-2. Unfortunately, that lead evaporated in the bottom of the sixth inning. Merrimack scored four runs between the fifth and sixth innings to jump over Saint Peter's for a 6-4 win.
At the start of the game, junior third baseman
Tai Turner homered to left field in the top of the first inning, giving Saint Peter's a 1-0 lead over Merrimack. Turner had three RBIs in total following a two-RBI double in the third inning. Sophomore outfielder
Taylor Montgomery contributed to Saint Peter's other RBI with a left field single that scored
Jess Forte in the fifth inning.
At the plate, the Peacocks finished the game with five hits. Freshman pitcher
Ava White received Sunday's loss for the Peacocks. After Sunday's loss to the Warriors, the season record dropped to 9-16.
