JERSEY CITY, NJ – The Saint Peter's track and field team is set to compete at the 129th running of the Penn Relays, hosted by Toyota, with three relay squads and standout long jumper
Amari Campbell representing the Peacocks at historic Franklin Field in Philadelphia. The 10-person crew will compete across the three-day meet beginning Friday afternoon.
Saint Peter's will enter the men's 4x400, sprint medley relay, long jump, and women's 4x100, all with their sights set on first-place finishes.
The 2024 women's 4x100 team—
Abigail Vital,
Diamond McLaughlin,
Alexus Smith, and
Mikayla Surles—are the defending champions at Penn, after winning last year's race in 3:58.52. This year's squad will feature a brand-new lineup:
Karilynn Jimenez,
Samyah Wilson,
Balikis Iyiola, and
Shania McDuffie, with their race scheduled for approximately 12:35 p.m. on Friday.
Saint Peter's will also debut a sprint medley relay team, with
Ameen Zubair and
Hensley Jean Baptiste running the 200m legs,
Connor Ziolkowski in the 400m, and
Michael Amaker anchoring the 800m. The group is aiming for a time of 3:28, with the gun set to go off at 6:30 p.m.
In the men's 4x400, Ziolkowski and
Ajani Peck-Wekunda—two members of the program's season-best relay (3:23.87)—will team up with Jean Baptiste and Amaker. The group is targeting a time of 3:13, with the race set for 8:10 p.m.
In the field,
Amari Campbell will represent the Peacocks in the men's long jump. Campbell owns a season-best mark of 6.93m and is chasing his personal record of 7.25m. The long jump opens competition for Saint Peter's on Friday at noon.
