HEMSPTEAD, N.Y.- Saint Peter's Softball lost to Hofstra University, 11-8, on Wednesday evening at Bill Edwards Stadium.
This was a high-scoring affair that went in the favor of the Pride. Although the Peacocks came up on the losing side, they sure made it interesting throughout by scoring five runs in the fourth inning, which tied the game at 8-8. Ultimately, the Pride scored a total of three runs between the fourth and fifth innings to squeeze past the Peacocks.
The bats were alive and well for the Peacocks as
Angelina Wagner hit a solo homer in the second inning and
Jess Forte crushed a two-run home run in the third inning. For Forte, this was her second home run of the season, while Wagner hit her first career home run at Saint Peter's. Forte also led the team in hits with a total of three through seven innings.
On the receiving end of the loss was freshman pitcher
Brielle Coppola. Wednesday's defeat sent the Peacocks to 9-19 on the season.
