JERSEY CITY, N.J. - The Saint Peter's women's basketball team aims to bounce back and continue to climb the rankings in the MAAC on Saturday, Jan. 3 at Merrimack in North Andover, MA at 12 pm ET. Both teams seek to earn their third win in the MAAC with the Peacocks sitting at a 2-2 record and the Warriors at 2-1.
Last season became the first time in both programs' history that a face off occurred, and it was the Warriors who won the day in a 64-49 victory over the Peacocks at home. When looking at the Warriors in 2025-26, the story has been sophomore Mia Fiore's rise to superstardom, leading the team in scoring with 13.8 points per game on 46.0 percent shooting from the floor, helping to elevate the Warriors to a 5-7 overall record going into the contest. '
For the Peacocks, Saint Peter's comes off a tough loss to Manhattan on Thursday, Jan. 1 at home by a score of 45-60. In defeat however, there were still some high spots to look at. The team defense was consistently great, forcing 12 steals, the second most of the season so far. Along with that, solid scoring from
Carys Roy in the second half sparked a solid run late in the game.
Nikola Zdenkova found her groove from outside, knocking down multiple triples in three of her last four games.
De'Naya Rippey also with a solid outing of eight points and a team best seven boards.
Following the contest for the Peacocks, they will return home on Jan. 8 for back to back home matchups against Fairfield and Mount St. Mary's on Jan. 10 at Run Baby Run Arena. All games will broadcast live on ESPN+
