LOUDONVILLE, NY– The Saint Peter's women's swimming and diving program returns to action Saturday, January 31, for their final MAAC meet of the season, heading to Siena Swim Center to face the Saints. First splash is scheduled for 1 p.m. and will be streamed on Siena All-Access.
In their last outing, the women fell to LIU (171-83), Monmouth (182-79), and Felician (156-103), but saw multiple bright spots throughout the quad matchup.
Paige Austin-Burrows led the way, accounting for three of the program's four podium finishes.
Austin-Burrows opened the meet with a bronze medal in the 200 butterfly, posting a personal-best time of 2:10.12. She followed with another personal best in the 200 breaststroke, earning second in 2:31.93. Austin-Burrows capped off her standout performance by anchoring the 200 freestyle relay to a silver medal in a tightly contested race, helping the Peacocks touch the wall in 1:42.41.
Maddie McKinney narrowly missed the podium in the 1,000 freestyle, finishing fourth with a time of 11:08.67, just .28 seconds shy of third.
Francesca Solano Vargas also placed fourth in the 200 backstroke, touching the wall in 2:15.58.
ABOUT THE SAINTS
Siena enters the weekend 4-8 overall and 2-3 in MAAC competition. The Saints have picked up conference wins over Canisius (155-143) and Merrimack (187-99), while falling to Iona (181-113), Rider (220-76), and Sacred Heart (194-103).
In January, Siena has competed in three meets, placing second in a tri-meet against Florida Gulf Coast and Stonehill, defeating Stonehill in a head-to-head dual (191-81), and falling to Vermont (167-114) last weekend.
At the FGCU tri-meet, Mea Amedio paced the Saints with a silver medal in the 100 freestyle and a bronze in the 100 IM, while Clara Samko and GayLin Kirn each added third-place finishes in the 500 freestyle and 200 backstroke.
Versus Stonehill, Amedio delivered a dominant performance, collecting four first-place finishes in the 100 backstroke and 200 freestyle, while also contributing a 26.65 split in the 200 backstroke relay and anchoring the 200 freestyle relay to victory.
Against Vermont, Samko tallied three silver medals, finishing runner-up in the 50 freestyle, 100 butterfly, and anchoring the 200 freestyle relay.
Siena is led by head coach Maggie Davenport, who is in her second season at the helm.

Saint Peter's is seeking its first win against Siena, entering the matchup 0-9 all-time. The Saints claimed the most recent meeting by a score of 158-66.
