HOW IT HAPPENED-
FIRST HALF-
The Peacocks started off the half with a strong attack as they were able to get two corners and two shots from Marcos De Elias within the first 13 minutes of the match, with Canisius following up with four shots, with Sebastian Heredia-Randen saving two shots that would go left.
The Griffins tried to push forward as they were able to get two more shots off, with one going top left that would be saved by Heredia-Randen and a corner.
With the Peacocks' goalie standing his ground, it was Smith who helped them pull ahead with a goal following a foul from Canisius, with Harry Edwards and Connall McErlain being credited with the assist.
After the goal, the Griffins tried to find an equalizer late in the first half but were unable to get past the Peacocks backline, with Davis Barnes getting one last opportunity for a shot that was blocked by Canisius.
SECOND HALF-
Saint Peter's continued where they left off from the first half with a shot from Leo Coval that went bottom center; soon after, Smith would find the back of the net to extend the Peacocks' lead to two.
Canisius would try to scramble to find an opening with three total shots between the 56th and 61st minute, with the Peacocks applying more pressure with two more shots from De Elias and one from Coval that went bottom center.
The Griffins would get on the scoreboard late into the half following a yellow card on Coval.
Even with Canisius looking for an equalizer, the Peacocks hunkered down to only allowing two shots at the 88th minute that would both go out top and a corner that would lead into the end of the match, with SPU taking the win.
