Peacocks Not Able To Break Through In Road Loss To Fairfield

FAIRFIELD, CT- The Saint Peter's women's soccer team (2-14-1) CONF. (1-9-1) had an afternoon to forget at Lessing Field against the Fairfield Stags (10-6-1) CONF. (8-3). The Peacocks fell 5-0.

WHAT HAPPENED:
FIRST HALF:

The Stags immediately took control of the game with a shot from Ella Pisani in the opening two minutes. Fairfield then had another shot less than a minute later; neither shots were on goal.

Then, just before the fourth minute, Payton Zaun fired a shot in the back of the Peacocks' goal. The Stags had a 1-0 lead early on.

Kristinsdottir recorded her first save of the game in the eighth minute. She had another save in the tenth minute.

Amanda Andreus fired a shot in the 20th minute; this was Saint Peter's first shot of the game.

The Stags got another goal in the 24th minute, and two minutes later struck again to take a commanding 3-0 lead. Fairfield struck again in the 35th minute with a goal from Kelly O'Connor. O'Connor then scored again three minutes later in the 38th minute.

Mayla McLean had a good look just before half, but it wasn't enough to get the Peacocks on the scoreboard.

The Stags had a strong 5-0 lead going into the half. The Peacocks trailed 2-16 with shots. Kristinsdottir had four saves.

SECOND HALF:
The second half did not begin with a lot of action. Several substitutions were made between both the Peacocks and Stags throughout the half. Alex Husson was issued a yellow card in the 64th minute.

Kristinsdottir made her fifth save of the game in the 77th minute. Freshman goalkeeper Sofia Donello saw game action for the first time this season after taking Kristinsdottir off with ten minutes left to play.

Fairfield scored its sixth goal of the game in the 80th minute. The Stags were awarded a penalty kick in the 85th minute. Libby Nylen shot the ball way over Saint Peter's goal and was unable to convert the penalty.

In the 89th minute, the Stags had a free kick opportunity just outside the Peacocks' 18-yard box. Madeline Hargraves curled the ball into the Saint Peter's goal to secure a commanding 7-0 victory for Fairfield.

UP NEXT:
The Peacocks will return home to Jaroschak Field for the final time this season, where they'll face the Quinnipiac Bobcats on November 4th at 2 PM ET. Saint Peter's will look to close out its season on a high with a win at home just like they did last season.
