BOSTON, Mass.--The Saint Peter's track and field programs gear up to compete at the ECAC/IC4A Championships at Boston University's Track & Tennis Center, February 7-8. Seventeen Peacocks will represent the programs, with seven men and 10 women set to compete.
LAST TIME OUT
The programs competed at the Metropolitan Championships last weekend. The men's team collected six medals and placed fourth out of 14 institutions– the highest team finish in program history– while the women finished tenth overall.
In the men's 400m,
Cashieve Blair and
Favour Owolabi secured silver and bronze with times of 48.67 and 48.95, becoming the only runners in the field to dip under 50 seconds and cutting nearly three seconds off the team's previous season-best mark.
Ajani Peck-Wekunda earned silver in the 500m with a time of 1:05.61, while
Sebastian Lopez placed fifth in the 3000m (9:05.93), setting a new personal best.
Amari Campbell claimed silver in the long jump (7.21m), and the men's 4x400 relay of Owolabi, Blair, Peck-Wekunda, and Yeager added another podium finish in 3:16.71.
Brian Yeager delivered the Peacocks' lone gold, winning the 800m in 1:53.95 as the only runner under 1:54. His performance earned him MAAC Track Athlete and Rookie of the Week honors, marking his third weekly award of the season.
On the women's side,
Samyah Wilson earned bronze in the 200m with a personal-best 25.86.
Lourdes Lawson added a bronze in the shot put, posting a personal and team-best mark of 12.43m.
COMPETING PEACOCKS
The men's team will be represented by
Neo Clark-Tabb, Favour Owolabi, Cashieve Blair, Brian Yeager, Sebastian Lopez, Connor Ziolkowski, and
Amari Campbell. The women's squad includes
Karilynn Jimenez, Samyah Wilson, Angela Owusu-Ansah, Dezoara Diaz, Mercedes Cruz-Fletcher, Adriana Rollins, Shania McDuffie, Ciara Brown, Lourdes Lawson, and
Kennedy Vaughn.
Clark-Tabb will compete in the 200m, Owolabi in the 400m, Blair in the 500m, Yeager in the 800m, Lopez in the 3000m, and Campbell in the long jump. The Peacocks will also field a 4x400 relay of Owolabi, Blair, Ziolkowski, and Yeager.
On the women's side, Jimenez will race the 60m and join Wilson in the 200m. Owusu-Ansah and Diaz will compete in the 400m; Cruz-Fletcher and Rollins in the 60m hurdles; Brown and Lawson in the shot put, and then compete with Vaughn in the weight throw. The 4x400 relay will feature McDuffie, Jimenez, Diaz, and Cruz-Fletcher.
LAST YEAR AT ECAC/IC4As
Six Peacocks competed at the IC4As last season.
Ajani Peck-Wekunda placed 14th in the 500m (1:05.69), narrowly missing the final, while
Connor Ziolkowski finished 15th (1:06.84).
Delano Gooden ('25) and
Ameen Zubair competed in the 60m, with Gooden finishing second in 6.87. Zubair placed ninth in his IC4A debut with a time of 7.08.
