POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y.- Saint Peter's (2-12) could not mount a late-game comeback against Marist (4-12) on Saturday afternoon at Heritage Financial Park.
Despite the defeat several players put RBIs on their line, such as Aidan Forrest, Max Abrams, and Max Doninger to help to keep the game close. James Ellis was on the mound for the Peacocks for four innings, facing 21 batters and allowing six hits during his time pitching.
HOW IT HAPPENED-
Both teams struggled at the bat early until Marist struck first at the bottom of the third inning with a single, leading to the run.
Saint Peter's would respond with three runs of their own at the top of the fifth by Forrest sending a hit to center field, allowing Chase Fogg to advance to third, and Alex Manent to score. This would be followed by an Abrams having a double that led to Fogg running to home, then a Doninger reaching first via error, giving Abrams the opportunity to score an unearned run later in the inning. Marist would then respond with three runs of their own at the bottom of the fifth inning.
Saint Peter's continued to struggle at the plate but put up a strong defensive effort against the Red Foxes, ultimately ending in a 3-4 loss against for the Peacocks.
UP NEXT-
