PHILADELPHIA, PA–The Saint Peter's softball team (3-10) concluded its three-game series against the Penn Quakers (9-10, Ivy League) at Penn Park Sunday afternoon, falling 8-0.
Angela Tremarco recorded her first collegiate triple, while
Kiana Kadena Matsuda went a perfect 3-for-3 on stolen base attempts during the weekend series.
Gabriella Rivera (1-2) was credited with the loss after pitching 1.0 inning and allowing four runs on three hits.
Brielle Coppola came in for relief, allowing three earned runs on five hits. Saint Peter's totaled four hits on the afternoon, with
Olivia Christopher going 1-for-3,
Kiana Kadena Matsuda finishing 1-for-2 with a stolen base,
Carlee Charles going 1-for-2, and
Angela Tremarco also finishing 1-for-2 with her first career triple.
WHAT HAPPENED
Penn struck early with a four-run first inning. The Quakers launched a three-run homer after two walks and added another run following a hit by pitch, a stolen base, and a double down the left field line.
The Peacocks held Penn scoreless until the bottom of the fourth inning, when a triple, two walks, three stolen bases, a single, and a Saint Peter's error pushed the Quakers' lead to 7-0.
Penn added one more run in the fifth inning with four singles, a stolen base, and a walk to secure the 8-0 victory.
